LOVETTS RAMSGATE ARE DELIGHTED TO BRING THIS TO THE MARKET A VERY STYLISH AND ONE OFF INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITY
Thanet District Council has granted full planning permission on April 2018 (Ref: TH/17/0860) for the demolition of the buildings to the rear of the Grade II listed Townley House, which will be redeveloped to provide 9 x 3 bedroom houses and 4 x 2 bedroom flats.
The site falls within the Ramsgate conservation Area and as part of an attached Section 106 the developer must meet a contribution of £9,343 that needs to be paid towards a Special Protection Area.
Works at Townley House itself are underway for its conversion to provide 10 residential dwellings, with the new builds to the rear now separately available.
It was originally a family home for the Townleys and their eight children, surrounded by extensive grounds containing pleasure gardens, graperies, an ice house and a well. The Townleys were a highly influential couple and held balls and social gatherings attended by the gentry and nobility of the era, including a visit from the Duchess of Kent and a young Princess Victoria in the 1820 s.
The building had fallen into a state of disrepair by the 1960s and applications were made for its demolition to make way for a petrol station and vehicle showroom in 1965.
