Property DESCRIPTION

FULL OF CHARM AND CHARACTER

A home of great character, this four-bedroom detached residence occupies a generous plot on Bagham Lane, to the outskirts of the popular village of Chilham. Previously run as a successful B&B but now an attractive family home, approached via a generous driveway with ample off-road parking and access to a detached barn style triple garage/carport above which there s a room currently utilised as storage and would suit potential future alternative uses such as ancillary accommodation or conversion to an annexe etc subject to any relevant consents. The beautiful gardens are extensive and mature affording a good degree of privacy with large trees, pond and bridge, large lawn and flower/shrub beds.

The accommodation is arranged over three floors accessed via a reception foyer from the front with tiled flooring, feature fireplace, space for seating and desk area which leads to the well-appointed, modern kitchen and in turn leading to an inner hallway with rear access to the driveway at the side of the property. Off the inner hallway is a spacious dual aspect dining room to the front and utility/WC to the rear. The lounge has double French doors to the rear leading out to the garden. On the first floor are three double bedrooms, two en-suites and a family bathroom. On the second floor the master bedroom, dressing room and WC.

Chilham is around 6 miles South-West of the Cathedral City of Canterbury and 8 miles North-East of Ashford. There s a traditional village market square and at one end of the square is the popular Jacobean Manor House - Chilham Castle. At the other end the 15th-century parish church, dedicated to St Mary. It is believed that Thomas Becket was buried in the churchyard. Both Ashford and Canterbury have mainline train stations with high-speed rail services to London St Pancras. The M2 and M20 link to the Southern motorway network, also the A2 is within easy reach leading to Dover in the South and the A299 in the North.

The Vendor's View

We are in a handy location for both Ashford and Canterbury. The local bus routes are excellent and the train station is two minutes away, so we can get to wherever we need to go easily. It is a quiet and peaceful place to live without being too far from everything we need. Having countryside walks on our doorstep is something we love the views are fantastic. We have a very homely feel here. The rooms all have their own personality and offer plenty of space. Views from the front onto the fields and out of the back onto the gardens mean we have plenty of natural light and scenery to look at throughout the seasons. The nearby 14th century village square is a lovely, short walk away. You have everything you would expect to find in a countryside village there, we enjoy the tearoom while there is also a castle and a handful of shops. The surrounding towns are easy to get to and offer plenty for us to do.We have made it our home here and have a very comfortable lifestyle. With that in mind we are reluctant to move, but now is the right time for us to downsize.
