This impressive Edwardian Home set back off the popular Faversham Road and within the Kennington area of Ashford. The house was originally built in 1904 and the current owners have tried, where possible, to keep and maintain as many of these features as possible. The staircase in the entrance hall has the original wooden spindles and there are fireplaces in many of the rooms as well as high ceilings and skirting boards. Of course, there have been many changes over the years with a new kitchen being fitted and in 1998 planning permission was granted for a large extension as an addition to the existing 3 bedroom house which added an extra two bedrooms in the loft of the main home. The house was also divided to include a separate annex. This enabled the family to provide a home for an elderly relative. An annexe is an attractive feature for many home owners and, as the cost of care rises, offers a perfect solution for many. The large rooms are more than adequate for even the largest of families and there is plenty of parking out the back of the rear garden. What the Owner says:
When we first saw the house we knew it was the house of our dreams, but we also knew that it was going to be a lot of hard work. The house has only had two other owners and hadn’t been decorated or altered since 1958, so we knew we would need to make a lot of changes. It took us 18 months to make the home ours so that we could finally sit back and relax. As our family increased the house grew with us as we couldn’t bring ourselves to leave our fabulous home. The extension meant that we had 4 good size rooms and an extension for my mother in law which had its own kitchen as well as a lounge and staircase to 2 bedrooms.
